Workplace safety resources

Put your training into practice.

Useful official guidance to help you apply your learning at work.

Keep educators safe, too.

  • SafeWork NSW identifies slips, hazardous manual tasks and psychosocial risks in early childhood education and care.
  • Its resources cover moving equipment, using cots and change tables, storage and working at low levels. Use them to start a safety discussion with your team.
  • These worker-safety resources sit alongside First Aid and child-protection training; they do not replace the separate requirements applying to your service.

Summarised from SafeWork NSW guidance. Reviewed 21 October 2026. Follow the official links for full requirements and current information.

Course FAQs

Practical answers to help you choose, prepare and book with confidence. Check your selected class and confirmation for the final details.

Choosing your course

How do I choose the right course in this area?

Start with the specific skills, unit codes or certification your employer requires. Compare the course outcomes and entry requirements rather than choosing only by course title or price.

Are all courses in this category nationally recognised?

No. Categories may contain national units, regulator-specific training and non-accredited skills courses. Check each course’s stated outcome before enrolling.

Can I compare dates before deciding?

Yes. Use the live booking system to compare available classes. Each course has its own timetable, venue and requirements; not every option will be available at every location.

Do I need every course in the category?

Not necessarily. Select what is relevant to your duties and goals. A bundle can be convenient, but should not lead you to book training you do not need.

Can you help us plan training for a whole team?

Yes. Tell Catch about your industry, roles, existing training, group size and preferred dates. We can discuss suitable options before confirming a group quote.

Who is education and care First Aid designed for?

Educators and other people working in childcare, early childhood education and related care settings. Confirm the exact training required for your role with your employer.

Which course code should I look for?

Catch’s current education and care First Aid course lists HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting.

How is it different from general First Aid?

It includes a specific education and care focus, including infant and child scenarios, as well as first aid skills relevant to adults.

What does this child protection course cover?

Recognising concerns, responding appropriately, documenting and reporting, and understanding professional responsibilities in child-related work. It is training, not advice about an individual case.

Which unit is listed on the current course page?

CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk. If an older page or employer request uses another code, ask Catch to confirm the correct current course before booking.

Is the full unit the same as Child Protection Refresher?

No. They are different training outcomes. A refresher should not be assumed to replace the full unit when an employer specifically requires that unit.

Who is Child Protection Refresher for?

People with prior child protection learning who want to update their understanding of professional responsibilities, reporting and workplace practice.

Is a refresher the same as completing CHCPRT025?

No. Do not assume a refresher issues the full national unit. If your employer asks for a unit code, check the required outcome with Catch before enrolling.

What subjects are refreshed?

Recognising concerns, responding to disclosures, documentation, reporting processes and professional responsibilities are included in Catch’s published outline.

Who is this refresher designed for?

People refreshing their understanding of anaphylaxis awareness and response, including workers in education and care. Confirm your employer’s exact training requirement before booking.

Is it a full First Aid course?

No. It is a focused refresher. Compare education and care First Aid if you need a broader assessed First Aid outcome.

What training activities are listed?

Recognition, action-plan awareness, risk minimisation and trainer-led auto-injector practice are covered. Practical and written assessment are described in the course outline.

Getting ready & assessment

How do I check the course duration and delivery format?

Use the course summary and the exact class selected in secure booking. A listed class duration may not include pre-work, breaks, later assessment or additional bundle components.

What should I do before attending?

Read your booking confirmation and pre-course information. Complete any required preparation, check the venue and arrival time, and contact us early if a link or instruction is missing.

What ID and materials should I bring?

Follow the instructions for your specific course. Bring the required identification and any listed materials. Regulated courses such as White Card can require more than one photo ID.

Do I need a USI?

A Unique Student Identifier is generally needed for nationally recognised training, subject to applicable exemptions. Keep your name consistent across enrolment and identification, and use our USI information page if you need help.

Can I get learning, language or accessibility support?

Contact Catch before paying so we can discuss the course demands and available support. Adjustments must remain consistent with the required training and assessment outcome; support is not an automatic exemption.

What if I cannot complete an assessment activity?

Tell the trainer or contact the team as early as possible. Ask about the applicable support and reassessment arrangements. We cannot promise a pass, a free reassessment or removal of mandatory requirements.

Can someone under 18 enrol?

Age rules differ by course. Confirm eligibility with Catch before booking, including any parent or guardian consent and restrictions that may apply to work after training.

Bookings, payments & certificates

How do I find current course dates and locations?

Use Find dates and book to view live availability, then check the exact venue, date and time before paying. Not every course runs at every Catch location.

What if no suitable class appears?

Contact the team about future dates or a group enquiry. A retained course page is not proof that a public class is currently scheduled, and a preferred date is not confirmed until accepted.

How much does the course cost?

The selected class or bundle in secure booking shows the current price. Check all inclusions and any applicable terms before payment; group pricing is quoted separately.

Can I use Afterpay or an organisation invoice?

Afterpay is available where offered at checkout and subject to provider eligibility and terms. Organisations can discuss invoicing with Catch. Neither option is automatic for every course or booking.

Can an employer or employment provider arrange training?

Yes. Use our organisation and group-training enquiry pathways to discuss participant numbers, courses, timing and billing. Individual learners must still meet the relevant enrolment and assessment requirements.

Can Catch deliver training at our workplace?

Discuss the location, facilities, group size and course requirements first. Suitable onsite delivery, timing and trainer availability must be confirmed before a group booking is agreed.

How do I change or cancel a booking?

Contact Catch with your name, course, booked date and reference. Read the refund and booking conditions before making other plans. A request is not a confirmed change; conditions and fees may apply.

When will I receive my certificate or completion record?

The timing and document depend on the course. Required assessment and enrolment checks must be completed first; regulator-issued cards can have separate processing steps. Confirm timing with Catch if you have an employment deadline.

What if my certificate is missing or has an error?

Contact student support with your name, course, attendance date and booking reference if available. Explain the issue without sending identity documents through a general enquiry; follow the team’s instructions for verification.
